The international open-access academic journal in the digital field, “Journal of Digital Life,” held its first major conference, “The Conference of Digital Life vol.1,” on September 16, 2023, at Kyushu Sangyo University in Fukuoka City, Fukuoka Prefecture.
With “digital” as the keyword, over 40 researchers from various fields participated. The event included a short pitch competition and presentations of academic papers, fostering lively debates and exchanges of opinions. The attendance exceeded 70 people, including online participants, highlighting the event’s significance as a platform for matching the needs of researchers and the industry.
The “Best Presentation Award” for the day went to Associate Professor Kazushige Oshita from Okayama Prefectural University, who presented research on improving walking by stimulating the soles of the feet with projections and heat. In the short pitch competition, Mr. Shinobu Yamamoto, a graduate student from Hosei University, won the grand prize. He advocated for the use of “point cloud data” technology, which constructs actual terrains and cities on computers, as a foundation for Smart Cities optimizing urban infrastructure and for the highly integrated Society 5.0 of the real and virtual worlds.
