The 15th Regular Research Meeting of the “Medical Knowledge Society” Held; Sankei Digital Provided Planning and Operational Support

The 15th regular study meeting of the “I no Chi no Kai” (Association for Medical Knowledge), a project planned and operated by Sankei Digital Inc. (Head Office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President & CEO: Sozo Otsuka), was held on September 30 at the Kioi Forum in Akasaka, Tokyo.

This project, “I no Chi no Kai” (Association for Medical Knowledge), considers the knowledge necessary to practice “medicine” amid the evolving environment surrounding healthcare and medicine. At this session of the study meeting, which has been held every other month since May 2024, we welcomed Mr. Jun Kitazawa, Board Member and Director-General of the Planning and Strategy Bureau at the National Center for Child Health and Development, who delivered a lecture themed “From Administrative System Design to On-the-Ground Implementation—The Future of Community-Based Integrated Care as Seen from the Frontlines of Child Health and Development Medicine.”

Mr. Kitazawa spoke about the accelerating decline in the birthrate and the current state of pediatric care, explaining issues and future visions in pediatric emergency medicine, how to address drug lag and drug loss (advanced medical care), and the realities of children’s mental health issues. He also referred—using Setagaya Ward as an example—to the future envisioned by the “Community-Based Integrated Care System,” a framework that comprehensively ensures medical care, long-term care, preventive care, housing, and support for independent daily living so that people can lead self-reliant daily lives in familiar communities according to their abilities. In the final Q&A session, there was active discussion regarding the pediatric healthcare delivery system.

The next theme will be “Social Security Reform Looking Toward 2040 and the Future of Community Healthcare and Care—Interpreting What Lies Ahead for Hospital Reorganization and Community Healthcare,” and Professor Yoshikazu Gondo of the Faculty of Business and Commerce, Keio University, is scheduled to be invited as the lecturer.
