Operational Support for the Virtual Cycling Experience Event at Keio-kaku Keirin Track

Sankei Digital Inc. (Head Office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President & CEO: Tatsushi Doi), as the authorized sales partner for the virtual cycling app “WhiizU,” held a virtual cycling experience event utilizing WhiizU at the “La Pista Shinbashi Cup & HPCJC Cup & Sankei Sports Cup (FI)” held on April 19 at Keio-kaku Keirin track in Chofu, Tokyo.

Near the entrance to the main stand at the event venue, two sets of road bikes were provided at a dedicated booth where visitors could experience virtual cycling. Under the theme “Best? Exactly? Get Something! Have Fun Riding! Virtual Cycling,” participants rode on a realistic course from “GRAND CYCLE TOKYO”, an event where cyclists can cross the iconic Rainbow Bridge in Tokyo Bay.

Based on their finishing times, participants received luxury prizes such as original goods from WhiizU and Sankei Sports, or exclusive Keio-kaku Keirin venue QUO cards. A variety of approaches were observed—some participants adjusted their pace to target specific prizes, while groups competed for the fastest times. Many were amazed at how the course recreated changes in pedal resistance depending on incline and were immersed in the realistic imagery that only live-action footage could offer.

“OVAL ANGEL” mascot girls Emi Kagomaki and Yukino Ichinose, representing Keio-kaku Keirin, also took up the challenge. While neither managed to win the “Just One Minute Award,” both recorded excellent times. This one-day event saw more than 110 participants take up the challenge, with five winners of the “Just One Minute Award,” making for a lively and exciting experience.

Sankei Digital proposes solutions utilizing the Taiwan-originated virtual cycling app “WhiizU” to municipalities and facilities. “WhiizU” features a variety of real-life and 3D cycling courses and supports Japanese, Chinese, and English.
